What is an EBSI DID?
An EBSI DID is a decentralized identifier registered on the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure network.
It follows the global W3C Decentralized Identifiers (DID) Specification, which defines a universal model for decentralized digital identifiers.
An EBSI DID allows an organization or entity to:
Establish a verifiable digital identity
Prove control over cryptographic keys
Sign and verify digital credentials
Participate in trusted digital ecosystems
Each DID resolves to a DID Document, which contains the public keys and service endpoints required to verify signatures and interact with the entity.
The Future of Trusted Digital Credentials
Decentralized identifiers within the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure form a foundation for trusted digital credential ecosystems in Europe.
Together with verifiable credentials, digital identity wallets, and trust frameworks, EBSI DIDs enable secure and interoperable identity systems that support the goals of the eIDAS 2.0 Regulation and the broader European digital infrastructure.
